Orange Poreconch – the pretty invader

Friday was a busy day – I had a photoshoot with Zoe in the morning and then afterwards caught up with [url=http://www.blipfoto.com/LindsWillow]LindsWillow[/url] for a fungi hunting trip in Talbot Forest. These Orange Poreconch fungi are an introduced species (originally found in Australia, Madagascar and Italy apparently) and may be displacing native fungi. In the extras I’ve included a photo from earlier in the day of the incredibly talented local singer (and my new muse) Zoe Scott. We shot this in the attic of an old cottage. MonoMonday #166: (Hunting in the) Open

It’s been another rainy day, and as I found out on my way down the hill earlier we have had enough to wash out the newly repaired ford across the kowhai. In the extras you’ll see the white water rushing over the new retaining boulders that were supposed to keep all the shingle in place. Er…. After tea I let Jack outside, like you do. A Walk in the Woods

Time for a bit of fresh air this afternoon, and what better way to fill the lungs than a walk in the bush with Mrs H and Jack. The forest is very damp at the moment, thanks to misty mornings and drizzle over the last couple of days. Fungi are starting to make an appearance, so my aim in the next couple of days is to head back to the bush with my macro. See the extras for a quick taste of what’s to come. Watch this space…

Today’s all about the dogs…

I’ve been at home all day today, spending time with the dogs before what’s sure to be a tough day tomorrow. Zoey has been on her bed do much of the day, not having much energy to do much, poor thing. Jack has not ventured far from her side – lying close enough by to be a reassuring presence.
