Morning on Lyttelton Harbour

Another Wednesday in the 03, so today I decided to head over to Lyttelton once more to see what I could see. This is from down near the marina, looking back towards the port and the heads. I used a 10 stop filter to slow this down to a 12″ exposure, allowing me to smooth out the waves on the sea. [i]Thanks to everyone who commented on yesterday’s 1460th blip. Your support & kind words are always something of a boost. I apologise that I don’t reciprocate as much as I should when it comes to comments, but I […]

Mooving with the Girls

Shot on my way home from appointments in G-Town today. These young girls were very interested in my presence and I’m only about 6 inches from #388’s nose here with my wide angle lens, but she remained very calm and inquisitive. [i]I used a ND0.6 filter on my Fuji 16mm f/1.4 lens to help me control the light a little. Arcturus over Little Mt Peel

Unfortunately we had to cancel our astrophotographers outing with Focus Timaru this evening due to bad weather. Ironically after a foul day weatherwise, late tonight the skies have cleared, so a few moments ago I stepped out onto the balcony in my PJs to take this photo of the stars over the mountain. There’s a bit of fresh snow up there… The bright star to the left of the peak is Arcturus – fourth brightest star in the night sky and brightest in the Northern Hemisphere. This view is looking north, and the star is low in the sky […]

Bowyer’s Stream, Mt Somers Track

I took the Inland Scenic Route on my way home from Christchurch today, stopping by Staveley for refreshments, which I enjoyed at the start of the Mt Somers Track. After viewing the cascading water from the bridge shown, I walked down to the picnic area and then down to the stream bed to get this shot. I had to balance my tripod on the huge foreground boulder, and I’m really glad I put my waterproof boots on when I left the house this morning! [i]This was shot with a Fuji 16mm f/1.4 prime, which I’ve currently got on loan […]
